Salt Lake City, UT 84105 Tuesday, October 29, 1996 To Whom It May Concern: I have been asked to comment on my participation with Landmark Education and also to give my professional opinion about Landmark's programs. By way of history, I initially heard about Landmark Education Corporation after my younger sister Kim completed The Landmark Forum in Denver. Although I noticed a marked change in her mood, motivation and actions I remained skeptical about this company and what benefit it might offer me and others. Over the next six months I continued to notice distinct changes in Kim's outlook on life, attitude and disposition. Curiosity and hope got the best of me and I registered for the March, 1994 Salt Lake City Forum. Although I completed The Forum nearly three years ago I continue to hold it was one of the most useful and stabilizing experiences of my life. The Forum was nothing like I imagined it would be. As the leader raised questions people began voluntarily sharing experiences from their life. I found that people sharing about their family, aspirations, past disappointments, etc. genuinely resonated with my own concerns. I began to learn about myself as reflected in others. Both of my parents, on my invitation, have successfully completed The Forum, as have several of my extended family members. I have on occasion referred higher functioning clients and observed them to be greatly benefited by their participation. Julie came to me initially expressing feelings of isolation, modest depression, and a sense of being stuck in her family and in her job. I saw her months after I had referred her to The Forum and observed her to be much happier. She explained The Forum had indeed made a difference as she was able to move beyond some previous experiences. She remarked that she has since developed new friends and has a new outlook and attitude about her life. My professional opinion is that Landmark Education, through courses and seminars, provides a deeply meaningful, rich, and powerful opportunity for well people to learn more about themselves, their lives, and what choices are truly open to them. I have not experienced the organization to be coercive, cult-like, or otherwise negative as participation is fully voluntary. I would be glad to speak with anyone regarding my own experiences with The Forum at any time. Sincerely, Jim Miller, M.D. |
